Dr. Sarah Duke, DC, LMT
Dr. Sarah Duke began her career as a massage therapist in 2003. After a few years, she realized that she was destined for a greater purpose and received her chiropractic degree in 2015. She often incorporates the Activator Technique, which allows for a more gentle approach to chiropractic care for patients who don’t respond well to manual adjustments. She also provides Graston Technique when needed for breaking up old scar tissue that impedes movement.
She specializes in Prenatal Webster Technique to prapare expecting mothers and their babies for the best delivery possible. She also does infant and child adjustments to help with optimal development, nursing, sleeping habits and more.
When Dr. Sarah became pregnant in 2007, the birthing coach recommended that Dr. Sarah utilize a chiropractor to prepare her hips for birth. This was her first introduction to chiropractic care. Dr. Sarah’s chiropractor educated her about maintaining the nervous system through routine care, and her baby was adjusted from birth. The birth of her second child in 2009 drove the importance of chiropractic care home for Dr. Sarah, as her new baby was having difficulty latching due to jaw retraction. Since the baby was under care from birth, the problem was resolved in a few days instead of the weeks it would have taken without care. Dr. Sarah believes this was the main reason that the baby was able to breastfeed successfully.
After this experience, Dr. Sarah developed several new massage techniques for expectant mothers, sports injuries and children and began the ICPA pregnancy and pediatric certification program. She brought this knowledge into the birthing center and helped her own newborn recover from respiratory distress with her first adjustment. She also had multiple opportunities to adjust other pregnant mothers through this program.
Dr. Sarah is passionate about promoting health and wellness throughout the birthing process. It became her vision to create a family practice that combines chiropractic and massage to nurture an optimal birthing experience for families both prenatal and post-partom.
